A couple of weeks back, we got a big manila package from Organic Farms. Inside was packed with coupons, recipe ideas, information about the farm, and these fine activity booklets for the kiddos. Like 5-6 of them. At first I was wondering what I was going to do with them besides use the coupons but then it hit me...
The girls have a recent fascination of farms and anything to do with barns, gardens, and the animals that live there. The cow moos, the horse nays, and that's what makes the world go round.
I got this great idea to create a quiet activity for them out of these free booklets. They were packed with so many little critters and detailed happenings that I knew the girls would love looking at them. So off I went and got to work.
I simply cut each box and laminated them like index cards to withstand all the toddler drool for stability and wear. With the extra booklet, I cut out some of the smaller parts of the pictures and made two cards for an I Spy game. Cut and glue. Simple.
Can you find the cow?
Can you find the frog?
Can you find the lettuce?
and so on....
Once all the cards were laminated I put them on a ring to keep them together and let the girls have them.
The house got quiet and whispering was all I heard.
What I love about this little activity is that
1) It was practically free
2) We can do this together
3) It's perfect for one on one time
4) No biggie if it gets messed up or trashed
