New and Old Memories

What happened this weekend? It just flew by I tell ya!! Mike and I made this "spur of the moment" idea to drive home to Florida to see my folks for the weekend. The girls are almost four months old and my Daddy hadn't seen them yet...so off to Florida we went.

I wasn't ready in any sense of the word. I was running around my house like a chicken with it's head cut off. Grabbing this, that, and anything else I though my girls might need for a 7 hour trip and a two day stay. Literally craziness. *smile*
Oh...but we had such a good time. I can't describe the feeling I get when I go home. When I sit back in my Daddy's rockin' chair, close my eyes, and just listen to the wind rumble through the mossy oaks. It truly warms my heart and comforts my soul.
I absolutely L.O.V.E. being home.

Memories of long ago (ok 26 years ago) flood my mind when I take a look around. All the hours that my Pa and I spent out in the garden, sitting on the front porch sharing our thoughts about things...it all comes back to play.

My brother didn't believe that I was there when I called him. I wanted to surprise him and boy did I!! He was really shocked. When we all got there, we  all ended up on the floor in the living room which is usually where we end up. Forget the couches and chairs.

(shocker: this is my Daddy taking a picture...first time event *giggle* and don't mind me changing the baby)

My Daddy was so happy to see his girls. The first thing he did was pick them up and held them at the same time. It was priceless. Guess who didn't have their camera?!? Yepper! That's me! I am the photographer of the family and I, of all people, forgot my camera. I coulda kicked myself. So, I borrowed Moma's. Now I want a new camera :~)
Here's Daddy and Savannah sitting in the chair. She is completely zonked out. They've never been around so much ruckous...they were pooped. Daddy was tired too.

My brother has two little girls...the youngest, Hailey, has grown so much since I've seen her last. The first thing that popped in my mind when I saw her was "Precious Moments." I just can't get over how gorgeous she is. The poor thing was stung by a little guinea wasp and she cried and cried. Her foot swelled up so much...I just held her because she was so upset.

My little Hailey Mae...I sure do love you.

The girls met a lot of family on this trip...but what I thought was so special was that they met their Great Grandmother and Nana.

We didn't go anywhere while we were visiting. Our truck was parked the entire time. How could you go anywhere when you have adventures like this going on right on your front porch?

Where O' where is Peter Cottontail?
(Story to come later)

When Sunday morning rolled around, I really hated to leave. It makes me appreciate my family even more. Things aren't the same as they used to be. Bub and I have grown and we each have our own families now. But, home is still home. Our memories are still there and the new ones are just busting at the seams to be made.
