Keeping It Together

I have a confession: I have a problem with organizing. I LOVE IT!!!
I like straight lines.
I like groups of like things.
Similar colors must be sorted together.
Clear work spaces.
I'm a tad OCD when it comes to the whole idea of the matter.

The Littles like to offer daily challenges on the subject, but I really do try my best to maintain a steady peace between it all. I have learned, since they've been born, that it's not so much the neatness that matters, but the knowing of where something is. Like the thermometer when the baby has a fever. Yeah, that's important.

I have adapted to a softer organizing pattern. I love the idea of using old pieces, unusual items, and even some ordinary system to sort it all out. Suitcases make the perfect home to breakable pieces and have become my new adored source of storage.

I've looked around and found some other grand ideas to keep it all together. Here are some of my favorites:

1, 2, 3, 4

1, 2, 3

My newest piece to help keep my sanity is my new planner from Erin Condren. I love it because I can keep everything right there and it's even personalized for our family.

So how do you stay organized? What sort of ideas do you have for keeping life together?

  2. I love the fabric lined baskets for toys! We use baskets for toys too...they look much cuter in the living room than plastic bins!

  3. Kristen...I think it is important to have a place for everything too. When we moved in here 5 years ago I found a place for everything and that's how it still is today. BUT after five years I have acquired more stuff...so I need to weed out things again. I am not too found of that! (:>) I should have a garage sale when the weather warms up...but my hubby is not too found of those...so I may just donate stuff. (:>)

But you have reminded me I should get started sorting through things.

    Thanks,
    Linda

  4. My personal fav is the color coordinated jars for the chunky crayons! Easy way for littles to learn colors and organization at the same time!

I myself love organization, especially when it works. . .an example would be the baskets that I use in my bathroom for sorting out all my daily use odds and ends. I would love to find a better way of organizing my pots and pans (currently it's all a jumble under the sink!)

  5. I love that little suitcase with the sewing and knitting supplies. What a perfect little thing to put next to the couch. One of my favorite things to use for organizing is mason jars and small paint cans. I have several little tester size paint cans (never used) covered with fabric to make them cute. I put my sewing essentials in one, writing utensils in one, random stuff in another.
