Fried Green Tomatoes

NO...I'm not talking about the movie. I'm talking about the fried green tomatoes that 'cha eat.
They are one of my favorites in Southern Delicacies.

Our CSA box was filled with them this week and I was so excited!!!!

Wanna know how I fixed them?
Ok...follow me...

Slice them up and coat them with a bit of S&P.

You'll need the following to make the coating:
coarsely ground yellow corn meal, 1 Tbsp cornstarch, 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
Mix all of the above together with any extra seasoning that you like. I like to add a little bit of Cajun seasoning to mine, but that's me.

Wet the tomato slices a bit and then sprinkle with the corn meal mix. Do this to all of the slices and let sit.

Heat your oil up until you see it rolling on the bottom. It needs to be hot, otherwise, the coating will just fall off.

hot oil = nice and crispy tomatoes

Right before you're ready to fry them, sprinkle with a little bit more water (if you have a spray bottle, that will work best) and with more dry mixture. Shake any extra corn meal off and place them in the oil.

Fry AWAY!!!

After you've fried them, you'll have pretty golden brown
Fried Green Tomatoes
that will be yummy!!!

Are you going to try them? I hope so. You know, my Moma fries zuchini..and it's so-oh good!!!

If you want, I can share how she does that. Or maybe if I'm lucky, I can get her to be a guest. How bout that? Oohh...maybe I'll rethink that one. She might share some, "Oh I remember when she was..." stories. *smile*
Just Kidding yall!! I'll have a chat with her.

Have an awesome Thursday!!!
Keep cool!
