My Thoughts on Deviled Eggs

Sometimes you have to stick with what you know.
Sometimes you have to just keep it simple.

Growing up, some of the first things I learned to cook/make was potato salad and deviled egg (not sure if that's spelled right...my spell checker won't check).

All pretty simple tasks for a 5 year old. Fun too!
I am now just 2 weeks away from 27 and I'm still making these the same way I was taught.
Why change something if it's good?

You like deviled eggs? A simple version that can't go wrong.
And...what better way to use up your eggs from Easter time. Waste not...right?
All the ingredients can more than likely be found in your very own fridge. Yepper!

You'll need mustard, mayo, and sweet relish and 6 eggs.

Boil your eggs for a solid 5 minutes. Then take off the heat and let sit for 10 minutes with a lid. This will keep you from having egg yolks that are more green than yellow.

Peel your eggs, cut in half and remove yolks to separate bowl.
2 tablespoons of mayo, 2 teaspoons of mustard and 1 tablespoon of relish. Mix together breaking up the yolks to a smooth consistency. Salt and pepper to taste.

Using a small spoon, fill each half with a bit of the yolk mixture.
If you choose, sprinkle some paprika over the tops and you're done!

Pretty easy huh?

Sometimes it's nice to be able to have something to eat that's just so delicious and so simply done.

Mmm...mmm. I think I'll go make some right now.

  2. Hi Kristen Sweetie...
I am so tickled to see this post. I have missed many, and I will go back and read. Blogger took my dashboard and emptied it, it kept telling me that I was following nobody. This has been going on for over a month. Today I got it back. Yeahhh. I saw a post from you. I am so tickled as I didn't have my links to my blogs.

I love deviled eggs, make many all the time. All 8 grandkids love them. I have to make 2 dozen eggs at a time to make enough for everyone. I have to share a little secret with you. After I get all of egg mixture stirred, I scrape it all in a ziploc baggie, squeeze it down into one corner, snip the corner with the scissors and squeeze a little into each egg half. Cut my time tremendously, and they come out so pretty. You must try it. It is just like making a decorating bag. (You can also using frosting in one for decorating as well, when making cupcakes.)

Can't wait to read back and see the girls. I know they are growing. You are such a good Momma.

Have a beautiful weekend sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  5. I've never made deviled eggs with relish. I'll have to give it a try! :-) I also use the ziploc bags when filling the egg whites. Less mess!

  7. Yum! Deviled eggs are one of my faves. I always make my Auntie bring them to my house whenever we have a get together. I just have a tough time separating the yolk and white. But I do love to eat them!!!
