Planting Herbs for our Wellbeing and More

The time is springing forward this weekend and the weather has officially started it's progression into full-fledged "springy" skies.  The air is crisp and clean, the birds are seriously chirping outside in the trees and I'm not just saying that either.

We went to the garden center this morning and Mike had to call for help to find me in the midst of all the green glory. I'm a huge fan of gardening...my Bub calls me a nerd. He's just jealous because he's not going to have fresh tomatoes to eat. Hmmm!
One of my goals this year was to grow more herbs and learn how to incorporate them into our healthier cooking. Fun right! Do you like Chicken Salad Sandwiches? If you make them like I do, you'd want a whole bucket of fresh Tarragon at your disposal. It's so...lemony and eye-rolling good!

Boy do I look like my Moma in this picture. With age I realize I'm becoming more like my parents.
Looks =Moma
Gardening = Daddy
I LOVE IT!!!
Anyhoo..
We bought this $7 planter and attached it to the deck railing. It in there will be Tarragon, Dill, and Cilantro. I also have basil in regular planters. Keeping those separate this year because it grow and gets BIG!!
I have plans to buy oh so much more *smile*
Thyme, Oregano, Chives, are there more? Probably and I plan to have them.

I'm so excited! I can't wait to see them grow and grow. The recipes are just calling for fresh herbs and now I have them sitting right outside my back door. Awhh...thank you Spring!

We bought our plants for the garden but due to winter's last glory song, the 36 degree weather is holding us back. So, for now, they're basking in the sun trying to stay warm. We'll probably plant tomorrow..fingers crossed.

Red onions, red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, hot banana peppers, carrots, cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, spinach, romaine lettuce, jalapeno peppers, crookneck squash, zucchini and there's something else but I can't think of what it is. Hmm.. anyhoo.
I'm really anxious about the garden this year.  It's so refreshing eating fresh veggies. Yum-MY!!!!

Genesis 1:29
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

On a different note...
This weekend has offered it's own set of challenges and adventures.
1. My phone has stopped accepting calls and my new one won't be here til Monday. Sigh.
2. The girls have come down with a minor cold, but still a cold. Clingy, needy, sweaty babes.
3. Due to the minor colds, we were not able to participate in the Flowertown Fun-Run like we hoped to. But, I did insist on picking up my shirt that I paid for. I'll model it for you Wednesday as part of my new adventure.
4. I recieved a much needed early birthday present from Moma and Daddy and was forced to do something that I have learned to dislike over the last couple of years...shopping for clothes. I did it though!
5. My sweet Mike made me tomato soup and grilled cheese for lunch today becasue I couldn't pull my thoughts together for a meal. He claims it's a secret recipe out of his collection--remind me to send a thank you card to Campbells will ya!
6. The weenies ate a brand new tube of diaper cream only to throw it back up. FYI: diaper cream is NOT an easy substnace to cleanup.
7. We sold the girls Baby Einstein Jumperoos and some of their clothes: savings for their Christmas presents!
8. Dunking Donuts turbo brew is amazing!

So off I go. My girls are awake from their nap and I'm off to change them. Motherhood is calling.

  1. FUN!!!! We have basil... which I use a TON, jalepenos (since we're in TX :) ), rosemary, oregano, and mint. The mint is a beast- it spreads everywhere and never dies! :) I tried cilantro and it died... I'm going to have to try that one again. SO nice to go to the backyard and pick what we need!
