Daily Reminders

There are days when life captures my focus and takes hold of the path I'm on. Distractions become too many and I end up in a place where I'm irritable and uncomfortable...overall, not so pleasant. Isn't this a common story for a lot of moms or is it just me? (I'll pretend you're agreeing with me for the first)

So I've started leaving reminders for myself so that my heart doesn't stray too far. Little notes or things to remind me of my strength. I'm starting to realize that I need a lot more than I originally thought. Nice to know, huh?  I have angels watching my every move so I really want strive to walk in a way to help them stay on the straight and narrow as well. They're very impressionable at this age. Funny thing is, a lot of the reminders I see were there all along.

Some of them are small...very small.
Others are quite evident and can't be missed if I tried.
Some are colorful and vibrant.
Some are simplistic and calm.
Some are signs of improvement and growth... like when little girls learn to make their bed.

But they all work in the same way. They strike a chord in my heart and create that spark to re-ignite my focus for what's important and at home.

My girls have been reminding me lately how "God made everything." Genesis 1:1-23  and can I just say that so far, that repetitious reminder (very repetitious indeed) has become my most favorite of all.

One of those totally melts your heart type reminders. Goes to show that even when we think we know what we need, God knows us better.

The Lord is my strength and my shield;

    my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
    and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7

What is it that brings you home and reminds you of the important and cherished things in life?

  1. My grandma. She passed away three years ago. I have pieces of her all around my house. She loved butterflies. Everytime I see anything with a butterfly I immediately think of her and it gets me going in a positive way because I admire her so much.
