Camping Trip

The kids are all sound asleep in their beds and I'll tip toe down the hall in just a bit. After a week of camping and all the laundry to catch up on, I'm just about done.

We did something this weekend that was a huge deal for our girls. An entire weekend of camping. Mike and I have been talking about it for a while. After our last attempt, we were very weary of even trying again. The weather has been so hit or miss, we didn't want to let them down again. We decided though that if our girls were ever going to enjoy doing what we love so much, we would have to just jump in with both feet.

Two nights down in Hunting Island State Park.
Right on the beach.
Beautiful.

We enjoyed the time so much. I loved hearing the comments from the girls about the trip. Every time we did something that seemed over the top, Savannah would speak up and say "now this is what I call camping!" It made me so so happy. We walked the beach, picked up shells, played in the water and soaked up the sun that peaked from behind the clouds every now and then.

On the drive down there, I had this image in my mind on how our trip would go. The reality of it all turned out being completely opposite of what I had in mind. And I'm realizing more and more that's how it's supposed to be. Unpredictable.

I know that being with those that I love and spending so much time with them is worth every ounce of effort I put in. I know that when they get older, they'll look back on these moments and simply smile like I do when I think back.

Barbie had to come along too!

Happy Wednesday!
