Scrabble Time!

I've realized something really important about myself. Another self realization to add to my list. I'm a famous "put-er-off-er." Yes. Otherwise known as a procrastinator. The only thing is, it's usually just with little crafts or projects. If you're a mother to multiples (a set of multiples or just multiple children period) you know what I mean that sometimes things just have to be put aside for later and sometimes to our misfortune, never. However, in my case, later means until you happen to come across it in the hall closet or under the spare bed.

We've been working on the playroom for the girls this week. My hubby has graciously joined in so we can get it finished. While working away, I came across this stack of cardboard that I had cut a while back.

Scrabble tiles for the playroom wall.

The original idea came from an afternoon of browsing Pinterest. My new favorite inspiration land. When I first saw this idea, I immediately fell in love and started thinking how I could create my own version.

Isn't that the cutest thing. I haven't the slightest clue on what they used, materials, how it's attached....nothing. All I know is I loved it the minute I saw it!

This is how I made mine.

First off, I wasn't sure if I wanted to use the same words. Otherwise it would be more like copying, so I got busy with some words. Counting the letters as I went so I would know how many tiles I would have to make.

Twenty's too many, eleven and twelve not quite enough.
Fifteen....juuuuust right!

I used leftover mailing boxes for my tiles. I came up with a size that would look right with the space I was going to use. Seven inches is the magic number I chose.

It took me a good hour to measure and cut them all out. A good little project for nap time *smile*
After they were all cut, I found a little jar of paint from when we painted our living room. It's actually the sample jar. I thought that the color would be a perfect background.

I got all of them painted and let them dry so that I could get the letters on. Can you see the concentration??

I don't own a Cricut, a Silhouette machine, or any other crafty cutter to make my letters, so I simply drew them myself. A little black paint mixed with a bit of patience and wallah!

I got all the tiles painted and the letters drawn (is that a word?? yes it is.) and filled in all before the girls woke up. Success!!! I was so pleased with the outcome.

When Mike saw it later on, he told me I had misspelled a word. Of course, me being me, I believed him. Can you see what he's talking about??

It took too long to finally get this done. My goal is to start doing a better job of remembering what and how many projects I'm working on. It would have been sad if this wouldn't have gotten finished..right?

If you have trouble keeping track of what you're working on, than go ahead and download my very first printable. I've printed several of these so that maybe I won't ever forget a project ever again.

Just click the list and save it.

Happy Tuesday!
